Background

The kennel name HaMoSti has existed since 1998 when I first thought about starting a breeding of Hovawart. Back then I had two Hovawarts in my possession, a blond male and a black-and-tan female. My thoughts were to mate these two dogs to start my breeding. Unfortunatley it turned out that these two individuals did not have the qualities wanted in a Hovawart. Therefore there was not any mating made between them, and I had to put off my breeding plans.

In the year of 2002 I got "Gårdvarens II Maffia" in my possession and the thoughts of breeding came back to me. After some trips to former Eastern Germany I got the picture of how I wanted the dogs in my breeding to be and look like.

The contact with Anke Falck in Germany gave me yet another hint about which direction I wanted to choose for my breeding. Her striving for the recreation of the original Eastern German Hovawart is admirable. The dogs I have met there have a powerful and healthy exterior, where the quality and structure of the fur makes a big difference for the dog´s look. Their mentality is also like I imagine the original Hovawart having, watching and protecting their pride, totally aware of who is in charge.

When I asked Anke if I could use her handsome male for my first litter she accepted, which made me so happy. The proof that I am on the right track with my breeding plans got strengthened when tis experienced breeder, with many years of Hovawart experiences, wants a puppy from this litter to use in her own breeding.
